We’re back! We went on tour. It was fun. It means big things. Stay tuned. Anyway, hailing from Jacksonville, Lizzie Darden is a total legend. We had the chance to sit down with her thanks to the champions over at Tax Collection.
Tell us about yourself.
I’m a pun-loving, sprinkle-hoarding, pink-obsessed photographer, content creator, and pin designer from Florida. I graduated in 2015 with a degree in Graphic Design but pretty quickly realized the traditional agency design job didn’t vibe with me. I started posting my weird food art on Instagram and slowly attracted the attention of brands, both big and small, which led me to my job creating content for brand’s social media pages. I’ve gotten to work with awesome brands like Dunkin Donuts, method, and Bud Light. On the side I also design and sell pins that are based on my Instagram food puns.
What’s the weirdest thing you do?
I like to drink my drinks at room temperature or slightly warm, especially soda

What were you like in high school?
Pretty shy actually, slightly preppy.

“Until you’re ready to look foolish, you’ll never have the possibility of being great” – Cher
List three dream jobs.
Professional cat lady, ice cream flavor-namer, and fashion designer
Tell us about your creative process.
Ideas come to me at totally random times, so I usually try to write them down and revisit them later. Making them come to life usually involves a trip to the grocery store for prop shopping, setting it up in my at-home studio, and then lots of photoshopping. I get lost in the little details of things so I can spend half a day photoshopping one photo until I think it looks perfect.
What do you do in your free time?
A whole lot of Netflix. And cocktail mixing
Last one: what would you say to beginners in your field?
Keep at it. Nothing in the art world comes overnight, so don’t let it get you down if you’ve been putting your heart and soul out there and aren’t seeing the response you’d hoped for. Keep giving it your all and eventually people will notice that passion.
Enjoy Lizzie’s pastel-spray of unique creation below, check out her social channels and thank whoever it is up there that we have people like this creating enough happiness to offset all the crap that’s going on in the world every single day.
